Individual Development and Career Alignment

In the midst of downsizing, rightsizing and resizing, organizations everywhere are re-thinking career efforts. From planning new career directions to developing career renewal plans on an organizational basis, companies are searching for ways to support a workforce in transition.

The Need

Career Development programs typically focus on the needs of the individual and skill enhancement. Some explore, in addition, opportunities or career succession plans for the individual within the organization. Few provide linkage from the individual’s current work to career systems for future work. This requires involvement from a larger number of people in the organization beyond the training department and the individual employee, which in turn requires a greater degree of design and coordination effort.
